Jewelry Shopping on TV Another Ripoff?

It was reported this summer that some jewelry purchased on one of those home shopping channels had enhancements not approved by the Gemological Society, and actually came down to falsifying and lying to customers.  Case in point was Tanzanite bezel-set rings.  You know the pitch when the camera zooms in on the jewelry piece and it looks absolutely stunning.  The jewelry shown is not the piece you will receive when you give them your credit card number.  Found was Tanzanite rings that had been glued into place with colored adhesive.  This makes the stone appear darker than it actually is.  The glue over time will disintegrate and you'll be left with junk.  $50.00 or $100.00 down the TV tubes. If the camera had zoomed onto one of these rings, you would probably see the glue. With a retailer like Zappos.com or Stcanyon.com, this scenario is not likely. Still, any merchandise bought at these two websites you would be able to return up to one year after purchase.  Highly unlikely on the TV shopping network.  Don't be fooled by the slick sales people on TV.  You'll get what your emotions pay for.
